For information and communication technology (ICT) networks and usage, wireline (non-wireless) connectivity is significantly more energy-efficient than wireless connectivity and does not add exposures to the biologically harmful pollutants that wireless signals are.
Therefore with the current and ever-increasing proliferation of wireless ICT, the energy-inefficiency of “wireless” is a serious, current, ongoing, escalating, significant contributor to climate change/instability/chaos, and to unhealthy outdoor and indoor environments, and resultant illness, injury, destruction, and premature death in people and other species. The current proliferation of “wireless,” and its escalation, is unacceptable and unsustainable. It is further unacceptable and unreasonable because the harms are preventable by modern alternatives that are already available.
Therefore it is only that there is lack of widespread public and organizational knowledge that would inform, inspire, and drive conscious choices, commercial will, and political will to prefer, promote, and proliferate wireline-instead-of-wireless ICT as one very important, significant contributor among key solutions to the climate crisis, burdens on the environment, and human suffering.
